Alastair Campbell
Former Director of Communications and Strategy for Tony Blair
  Alastair Campbell is best known as a journalist and former Director of Communications and Strategy for former Prime Minister Tony Blair. He was a key figure behind Mr Blair's rise to power and was often described as "the real Deputy Prime Minister". Mr Campbell also played a key role in drafting the Government dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, the Hutton Report, which has been the source of much media interest lately.

Mikhail Gorbachev
Former President of the USSR, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

Mikhail Gorbachev was the last leader of the Soviet Union, serving from 1985 until its collapse in 1991. His attempts at reform helped to end the Cold War, and also ended the political supremacy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and dissolved the Soviet Union. He introduced a policy of openness or "Glasnost" and he was also the architect of "Perestroika" or deep political and economic reforms. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990. He is now president of the Green Cross organisation and writes a regular column for the New York Times Syndicate.

As a former world leader, Mikhail Gorbachev is one of the most respected political figures in the international arena. He talks knowledgeably about the social, economic and political fallout of climate change and his vision for a greener world, the importance of world peace and the advantages of creating a sustainable future.

Jean-Luc Dehaene is the Vice Chairman of the European Convention.

As a most respected politician, Mr Dehaene has a reputation as an excellent negotiator and strong political leader. In his presentations he addresses important questions concerning the expansion of the EU and he advises audiences on what the future holds for existing businesses within Europe and for companies wishing to expand into Europe.
     


Helmut Kohl Bundeskanzler a.D. MdB
Former German Chancellor
  With 16 years in power, a post-war political record, and having won four consecutive general elections Helmut Kohl is arguably Germany's most successful Chancellor. He played a significant role in European integration and was a key player in ending the Cold War.

Most recently Dr Kohl received the 2005 International Leadership Award for contributions to global peace and security from the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.

     


Muhammad Yunus
Founder of the Grameen Bank and Winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize
  In 1976, Muhammad Yunus founded the Grameen Bank to make loans to poor Bangladeshis. Since then the Grameen Bank has issued more than US$ 5.1 billion to 5.3 million borrowers. The success of the Grameen model has inspired similar efforts throughout the developing world and even in industrialized nations including the USA. His methods have also been applied to Burma and in Kosovo with great success and he is now embarking upon an effort to eliminate global poverty.
